Be Arielle F.

Simon Senn (Genf)

Place Tojo Theater Reitschule

Language French and English and German Surtitles and English Surtitles and langue des signes francaise

Duration 1h

Sunday 8.5. 19:00 | Monday 9.5. 20:00

The video artist and visual artist Simon Senn from the French-speaking part of Switzerland acquired a digital copy of a woman's body on the internet, together with the rights to use it. After downloading the graphic data, he can do whatever he wants with it - apart from some things in the small print. With the help of virtual reality glasses and a few simple body sensors, he climbs into the body of Arielle F., who, unaware of this, is busy with her studies at home in England. Shaken by this experience, Simon decides to seek out the original of this digital copy and encounters unexpected links between technology, representation, gender and law.

Simon Senn lives in Geneva. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from HEAD in Geneva and a Master's from Goldsmiths College in London. Although his plays are primarily based on reality, they always have a multi-layered fiction and appeal to the audience's imagination. «Be Arielle F.» was already invited to auawirleben in 2020. After cancelling the performances due to the pandemic, we were at least able to show the zoom version of the production then. This year we are pleased to be able to show not only the stage version of «Be Arielle F. », but also Simon Senn's latest play dSimon.

Simon Senn is also part of the format «Bring a Friend» and nominated Quentin Lannes, who lives in Lyon.
